Karen Watson served the people of Iraq as a missionary working on humanitarian projects around Mosul in the south of the country. A year and a week after her arrival, she and four of her colleagues were killed by insurgents. Karen had left a letter with her pastors in California that was only to be read at her funeral should she be killed in service. The letter concluded with the following statement:
A Missionary Heart:
- Cares more than some think is wise.
- Risks more than some think is safe.
- Dreams more than some think is practical.
- Expects more than some think is possible.
