It was really cold today. I mean REALLY cold. It did not get above zero and we are told there will be a foot of snow fall tonight. The airport is closed between 10pm and 6am, which is apparently very rare. It should be fun driving over to Willow tomorrow!
We had another great day of input. Greg Hawkins, Executive Pastor, shared with us from 9am - 3pm. He is a seriously scary smart guy whose mind leaps all over the place. He spoke at length about Willow's strategic planning process. There was a lot of relevant learning for me as we embark on implementing our new plan in our congregation.
Gene Appel, Lead Pastor, then shared from 3.30-5.30pm. He shared very candidly about the challenges of leading change at Willow and the transition from Bill Hybels having a very hands-on leadership role. The transparency of those who have shared with us has been so encouraging. They have been very raw in their honesty, which is a wonderful gift from such an amazing church.
We all shared a meal together with Lynne and Bill Hybels at the church. It was great, but even I am getting a little sick of Pizza, no matter how good it is. Tomorrow we have an extended question and answer time with Bill Hybels followed by a tour of the facilities. And of course the promise of snow!
wow - seems like you're having an amazing time over there. Elin and I just arrived in Norway. It's 4pm in the afternoon, already dark and it's very cold. Makes it easy to read and relax. See you in a few weeks.
