I am in Qantas Club in LA together with Matt and Craig waiting for our plan to take us home. I can't wait! I have not been able to update the blog for the last few days due to the absolute dearth of Internet Cafe's in LA. Can you believe it. I have a lot to share - here are a few highlights.
Our flights from Atalanta were relatively uneventful - 3 and a half hours to Denver - a brief layover - and then another 2 and a half hours to LA. It was a shock to get off the plane to 25 Celsius 'heat', especially after the cold of Chicago. We hired a care (I drove!) and headed off to meet key leaders from Mosaic church. They, like all the church leaders we have met, were amazingly hospitable with their time. Three hours flew by before we joined the slow moving 'car park' that is the LA freeway system back to our hotel.
On Tuesday after breakfast at Manhattan beach, we headed south along the coast to Costa Mesa where we visited Rock Harbor church. Again lots to learn, before we traveled back into the city to attend an NBA basketball game at the Staples Center. The LA Clippers played the Miami Heat. It was a wonderful cultural experience.
Today started rather unexpectedly with a 4.30am fire alarm at our hotel, before we traveled north top Venice Beach, west to Hollywood, then some shopping, dinner at Santa Monica beach and then back to the airport. All in all a very full but fulfilling end to our trip. And I successfully have driven in LA - with the mantra 'keep to the right' indelibly marked in my brain.
When I safely return to OZ I will post a longer entry reflecting on the whole trip. All in all it has been inspiring, challenging and a whole lot of fun...
I'm glad you had a good trip, I hope you have a safe flight home, and a happy reunion with your family, and I look forward to hearing your news this Sunday.
Blessings!
Leeann :)
