Well, it all happened as predicted. Last night a foot of snow fell. It closed the airport, caused traffic chaos, and if not for our wonderful hosts would have stopped us from getting to Willow. It really is an amazing sight to see snow, Christmas lights, pine trees, deer and icicles everywhere. I have stack of pictures I will bring back.
It was also our last day at Willow. Quite a number of the conference participants took a long time to get there - with blocked roads, accidents and so on. One guy took six hours! As always the welcome at the church was great, and the day proved to be worth much more than the minor hassle of getting there. Bill Hybels was with us all day simply answering our questions. It was a day rich in insight and inspiration. I took copious notes. He is a very passionate leader, at the same time genuinely humble in his demeanor.
In fact such humility it is one of the things that has struck me overall at Willow this week. The humility and transparency of those who have shared with us is both unfortunately often too rare and also a great gifts in itself.
Our time ended with a one hour tour of the new Willow auditorium. It was all a little overwhelming. It is huge. The attention to detail is incredible.
Tonight we took our hosts out for a meal. Great food and wonderful conversation. Tomorrow Matt, Craig and I head for Atlanta and the next stage of our adventure. Although sad to leave Willow, I'm looking forward to what comes next and the fact that it is only a week until I am home.
