My third full day here in Hawaii and its been a lot of un again. This morning I spoke to the Compassion Discipleship Training School. This was the youngest group I've spoken to so far. Lots of American students who finished high school in July this year.
Ben does not fall into this category. He is a 20-something old guy from Pennsylvania. What makes Ben so interesting is that he is Amish. His story is that a year or so ago he came to the YWAm base here in Kona with some other Amish to help build some new dormitories. The Amish are renowned for the building skills. While here he sat in on a class. He hungered for more and so has come back for six months. It was really cool meeting him.
This afternoon I scootered around a little again. I ended up at Walmart and to top off my cultural experience ate some McDonalds in the store inside. Truly the American dream!
I teach my last class tomorrow before participating in a seminar on Friday. On Saturday Jon and Elin are going to take me out for a bit of a tour, including taking in the sire where Captain Cook met a violent end.
I'm missing home and especially family. I'm preparing for the Christmas silly season with the keen sense of excitement and anticipation.
