Next weekend I preach on one of my favourite passages of scripture, 'Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work in us.' (Ephesians 3:20).
We have a God who is able. Last week I was reminded of this fact when I viewed a short clip from BBC world news. The report said, 'Winds battering southern Australia over the last 24 hours have been so strong that spray from waterfalls south of Sydney has billowed up into the air. Nearly a month's worth of rain has fallen on the city in 24 hours, and wind speeds have reached 120km/h.' The strength of the winds pushed back the seemingly inevitable fall of water. The sight is remarkable.
We have a God who is able to push back waterfalls with the wind, and change our circumstances according to His will, and if not, provide us with the strength to endure when apart from God we could not. God is able to change our circumstances, even reverse them and/or can provide supernatural strength hat enables us to live as more than conquerors in the midst of them. Next week we will explore this further, as well as the heart-wrenching mystery of those times when it seems God is 'unable', or even unwilling.
